What are herbal teas?
What are herbal teas?
Herbal teas are not derived from a traditional tea plant. The term ‘herbal’ refers to the process of steeping other plants or fruits in hot water.

How long can I keep my tea for?
These teas keep fresh for about 1-2 years. While you can still brew the tea after that, the taste and smell may not be as potent or delicious. We recommend consuming within a year.
What are your tea bags made of?
What are your tea bags made of?
At Leaves of Leisure, we’re proud to share that we’re in the process of transitioning our tea bags to BPI-certified corn mesh, a material that’s fully compostable at home and contains zero microplastics. This means you can toss your used tea sachets straight into your backyard compost — no special facilities required.
We’re already 90% transitioned, and by the end of 2025, all of our tea bags will use this eco-friendly material exclusively.
Previously, our tea bags were made from a corn-based polylactic acid (PLA), which is biodegradable and compostable only in commercial composting facilities due to the higher heat required. While some of these bags may still be in circulation as we complete our transition, we’re committed to offering a cleaner, more sustainable option moving forward.
Prefer loose leaf tea? We’ve got you. While we’re working on officially adding loose leaf options to our website, you can email us at hello@leavesofleisure.com with your order number and request loose leaf instead. We’ll pack your tea in a home-compostable bag, and it will still come in the same beautiful canister as our sachets.
